Fellow Workers, Comrades and nation builders,
On this May 1st, 2026, I join millions across the world to salute the strength, resilience and dignity of labour. Today, we celebrate you — the hands that build, the minds that plan and the hearts that serve.
To the dedicated workforce of our Itire-Ikate LCDA:
Thank you. Your commitment to service delivery, sanitation, revenue, health, education, publicity, finance, administration, entertainment, technology, social services, infrastructure, budgeting, procurement, legal affairs and grassroots development keeps our council running. From the offices to the field, your daily sacrifices do not go unnoticed. We are proud of your loyalty and the excellence you bring to duty. My administration remains committed to your welfare, timely remuneration, training, and a safe, enabling work environment.
To workers beyond our LCDA, across Lagos State and Nigeria:
Your labour sustains our economy and upholds our society. Whether in public service, private sector, markets, or informal spaces, you are the true engine of progress. I celebrate your courage in the face of challenges and your hope for a better tomorrow.
As we mark this year’s Workers’ Day, let us renew our pledge to diligence, integrity and unity. Together, we will build an Itire-Ikate LCDA that rewards hard work, and a Nigeria that works for all.
I wish you a peaceful celebration. May your labour never be in vain.
Happy Workers’ Day!
Solidarity forever.
Hon. Oluwafemi Daniel Odunayo
Executive Chairman, Itire-Ikate LCDA
