…Initiative Deepens Agricultural Development, Strengthens Food Security, and Empowers Local Farmers
In furtherance of his administration’s unwavering commitment to agricultural development, food security, and grassroots economic empowerment, the Executive Chairman of Itire–Ikate Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Oluwafemi Daniel Odunayo, has facilitated the distribution of fertilizers to crop farmers across the council area.
The initiative forms part of the administration’s strategic agricultural development programme aimed at providing farmers with essential farm inputs, improving crop productivity, reducing production costs, and promoting sustainable farming practices that will enhance food production and strengthen the local economy.
Representing the Executive Chairman at the distribution programme, the Supervisor for Agriculture, Hon. Sharafa Bakare, reaffirmed the administration’s unwavering commitment to implementing policies and programmes that empower farmers, strengthen the agricultural value chain, and promote inclusive socio-economic development through increased agricultural productivity.
Hon. Bakare stated that agriculture remains a critical pillar of the administration’s development agenda, noting that empowering local farmers is essential to achieving food sufficiency, economic prosperity, and sustainable community development. He assured beneficiaries that the council would continue to initiate and support programmes that directly improve farmers’ welfare and strengthen agricultural production across Itire–Ikate LCDA.
The programme was attended by the Head of the Department of Agriculture, Executive Cabinet Members, representatives of the Farmers’ Association at the state level, and other key stakeholders in the agricultural sector.
Addressing the beneficiaries, the council urged farmers to make effective and judicious use of the fertilizers to improve soil fertility, increase crop yields, expand food production, and contribute significantly to the attainment of food sufficiency within Itire–Ikate LCDA and Lagos State.
The beneficiaries expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Chairman for the timely intervention, describing the fertilizer distribution as a significant boost to their farming activities. They commended the administration for recognising the importance of agriculture and providing practical support that would improve productivity and increase their incomes.
The fertilizer distribution programme further reflects the people-centred leadership of Hon. Oluwafemi Daniel Odunayo and reinforces his administration’s unwavering commitment to agricultural transformation, rural development, food security, and sustainable economic empowerment. The initiative also aligns with the development agenda of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which prioritises support for local farmers, enhanced food production, job creation, and sustainable economic growth.
