Hon. Catherine Yewande Ojesanmi, flmi serves as the Chief Whip of the legislative arms of Itire Ikate LCDA. Known for her dedication and leadership, she plays a pivotal role in ensuring party discipline and unity within the legislative council, contributing to the effective governance and development of the community.
She was elected into office on 12th July, 2025 as Councillor representing Ramoni Ward, Itire- Ikate LCDA.  Surulere Constituency II

Educational/Professional Background

1. Energetic and Ambitious, born and raised in Surulere, Lagos – Nigeria as the great -grand daughter of Late Mrs Monica Ifedirah, a great female politician of the NCNC and the first market leader of Tejuosho Market, Surulere, Lagos -Nigeria, before the Civil War.Inspired by the stories of the feats of her great grand mother as a strong grassroots mobilizer, Hon. Catherine Yewande Ojesanmi bagged a B.Sc degree in Political Science at the University of Ibadan, Oyo State – Nigeria in 2009.She proceeded for the mandatory National Youth Service Corp in Lagos as a Client Service Manager for Messagesinc Limited, a Media Company on James Robertson Street, Surulere, Lagos in 2010.After her Youth Service, she sat for the Cabin Crew Examination at Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and got licensed on the A320 aircraft as a Cabin Crew for First Nation Airways.

   Furthermore, she served as an F&B Manager from 2015 – 2020 for one of the finest hospitality companies in Oniru – Victoria Island, Lagos (Artist & Scientist) where she successfully managed high profile events across the length and breadth of Nigeria.

   As a people-oriented person, Catherine has partnered with NGOs on various community development projects such as
   community clean-up events, planting trees to improve air quality, organizing meal programs for those in need.
   Providing after-school tutoring and educational support to children, sensitizing the community on gender based violence and domestic violence, organizing free medical outreach to the less privileged, amongst others, which are organized efforts aimed at improving the social, economic and environmental conditions within the Itire-Ikate Community, Surulere Constituency 2, Lagos State, Nigeria.

Future Plans

She plans to focus on the well being of her constituents and enact policies that promote equality, justice and human rights, addressing systemic inequalities and protecting vulnerable groups.

Hon. Yewande remains committed to upholding integrity and ensuring accountability, ensuring a prosperous and dynamic future for all residents of Itire Ikate LCDA
