





The Executive Chairman of Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Oluwafemi Daniel Odunayo, has taken a significant step to address the perennial problem of flooding in the area. The LCDA initiated a comprehensive desilting of drainages in the streets namely: Memudu Aremu Street(Ikate), Ramoni Street(Itire), Adegbola street(Ikate), Temidire street(Ikate), Ashimowu Bakare Canal (Itire) at the moment, aiming to improve drainage infrastructure and mitigate flood risks. The initiative, part of the LCDA’s commitment to enhancing community welfare, involves clearing blockages and ensuring unimpeded water flow through the drainage system.
The move has been welcomed by residents, who hope it will bring relief from recurrent flooding. Speaking on the development, Hon. Odunayo emphasized the administration’s focus on improving infrastructure and living conditions in Itire-Ikate. “We are committed to ensuring our streets are safe and habitable,” he said. Residents are advised to report any issues or concerns to the Department of Environmental Services for prompt attention.
The Chairman of the CDC, Itire-Ikate LCDA, Engr. Fatai Adelani, applauded the Executive Chairman for this commendable initiative and pledged his unwavering support for his administration’s continued efforts to improve the area.
The Iya-Oloja General, Chief(Mrs) Ramota Ajagbe, has also applauded the Executive Chairman for his supportive efforts in ensuring prompt environmental sanitation on every Thursday and commended the Council’s Environmental services in conjunction with the Environmental Task force for ensuring high level of cleanliness and sanity at every market place.
